Students at Pear Park Elementary are one step closer to a safer walk to school.
Monday morning the Mesa County Commissioners approved an agreement to purchase a nearby home to make way for a paved walkway. This move was prompted after a girl got hit while walking to school at the beginning of this year. Mesa County Commissioner Steve Aquafresca said the county did this for the students.
Although a date has not yet been set to start the project, Aquafresca said all parties are willing and wanting to move quickly with the plan.
