The Roice-Hurst Humane Society isn't taking any chances with feeding animals tainted food.
On Monday, the society threw out dozens of cans of food and while much of the food is donated, Roice-Hurst is asking those who plan to give to come in with an item usually found in kitchens, not in pet food.
"We won't be accepting any canned food donations for 30 days, but people can bring in cans of chicken broth, which we can use to mix with dry food while still providing the animals with moist food," Roice-Hurst Manager Jenny Key said.
Key adds no animals at the shelter have shown signs of eating the tainted food.
