Kaysville, Utah (AP) A 36-year-old woman has been hospitalized after an 8-foot-long steel pipe crashed through her windshield and pierced her face.
It happened Monday on Interstate-15 near Kaysville, Utah.
The Utah Highway Patrol says the pipe was lying in the middle of the road when a vehicle ran over it. Officers say the rod then bounce up into the air, went through the woman's windshield and hit her.
The pipe struck the woman in the face and exited through her neck --- missing her spinal cord. A passer-by pulled over and called for help.
She was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Authorities say the woman is expected to make a full recovery.
