Still no word on what's causing dogs and cats to get sick, resulting in a massive recall of pet food across the country. Nearly 60 million containers of dog and cat food were yanked from store shelves. Local retailers are also taking the food off their shelves and trying to help answer pet owners' questions.
Menu Foods, which sells products under dozens of brand names, has recalled fifty brands of dog food and forty brands of cat food. Now many pet owners are left confused about which brands are safe to buy. Folks at the PetSmart in Grand Junction say it's important to know that only the so–called "cuts and gravy" products which are sold in cans and pouches are affected. To help consumers they've put up signs and have stocked their shelves with food that's safe to feed pets.
