Man Tries To Make Meth Out Of Coal

Video will be available shortly.

On Tuesday, agents with the Drug Enforcement Agency got a tip that a house in the 700 block of Noland Avenue was involved in drug trafficking. When agents arrived at the home they found a man who was trying to make meth out of coal. But according to DEA Agent Karen Flowers, the man didn’t even have coal. Flowers says the man thought some lava rocks that he had picked up from some nearby train tracks were coal.

Flowers says meth addicts are always trying to come up with new ways to make meth, but she's never seen anything like this.

Ammonia and acetone, which are ingredients for meth, were found in the home. But since the man didn’t have all of the supplies to make the drug no arrests were made.

The Grand Junction Fire Department was called in to dispose of the chemicals.
