One assault weapon has been recovered, as a 17-year-old was taken into custody Friday in connection to a burglary at the De Beque Marshal's Office. But Police are still searching for a second weapon.
Two M-16 rifles and a taser were taken Monday and in hopes of recovering the second fully-automatic military weapon, the Mesa County Sheriff's Office is offering a reward for its safe return.
Officials say there are definite public safety concerns about having a fully-automatic weapon in the community.
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office is offering $1,500 for the return of the still-missing M-16 rifle and $1,000 for the return of the taser. Anyone returning the weapons will receive the reward with no questions asked.
Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for any information leading to an arrest in the case. To reach Crime Stoppers, dial 241-STOP or 241-7867.
