Dozens of Boy Scouts showed off their racing and carpentry skills Saturday by participating in the District Pinewood Derby. The pack members shape, paint, and carve their cars which start off as two by seven pieces of wood. The event also gives the boys a chance to learn about competition.
A computer tracks the speed of the cars, which can reach speeds of 175 miles per hour. The top racers will go on to compete in the finals next month, which will be held in Montrose.
