Vigilante Faces Assault Charges

Video will be available shortly.

Vigilante justice results in one man facing assault charges. The incident began when Mesa County Sheriff's officials responded to Western Truck Accessories on Highway 6&50 on Orchard Mesa for a report of someone breaking into vehicles.

When they arrived they gave chase to the suspected thief, 37-year-old Wesley Fraley, who was on foot. That's when apparently 27-year- old Chad Mares, a friend of the theft victim, jumped in his full size SUV in an attempt to catch up Fraley. He caught up with him, and ended up hitting him with his SUV.

Fraley was not seriously injured and was taken to jail to face charges of theft, trespassing, and resisting arrest. Mares was issued a summons for third degree assault.
