There are over 1500 kids in mesa county that go hungry over the weekend because their only meals come at school. We've told you about a "back pack" program that's helping. It sends kids home with food for the weekend and now more businesses are stepping up to help.

Chesnick Realty has joined the efforts of independent brokers of Mesa County by holding a food drive for the program. All you have to do is drop off donations and they'll make sure the food gets to the children in need. "This year especially with the economic downturn all of us are feeling it and the one thing we can do is help the kids who can't help themselves," says broker Tammy Tway.

Donations can be dropped off at 137 N. Peach street in Fruita. Donations will be taken through the end of the day on Monday, November 16th.

Items that can be donated include: any canned food, dry milk, peanut butter, crackers, full box meals, mac & cheese, cereal, oatmeal, rice, gravy mixes, canned chicken, tuna, Vienna Sausages and similar items.

Items can also be dropped off at:
