GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A local Good Samaritan is trying to collect blankets and sleeping bags for the homeless, but so far her efforts are falling flat and she's hoping by reaching out to the public, that will change.
There are empty boxes at Gold's Gym in Clifton and Western Implement on North Avenue, but Kandis Fuller is hoping they will soon be full.
During the winter months, the homeless shelter is usually full every night and often times those who are turned away are forced to sleep on the streets.
"I just really saw a need. I see a lot of homeless and I know the homeless shelter only has so many beds and once they start turning people away, it's cold outside," she says.
The "Keep out the Cold" blanket drive goes until the 1st of December. Fuller is ask for blankets and sleeping bags.
Anyone who wants to open their place of business to the "Keep out the Cold" blanket drive, contact Kandis Fuller at (970) 394-0597.
