Nassau, Bahamas (AP) - Larry Birkhead doesn't mind saying, ``I
told you so!'' Those were his words to his supporters and to journalists
outside a courthouse in the Bahamas, where it was announced that
DNA tests confirm he's the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby.
The court hearing didn't settle the issue of who gets custody of
Dannielynn, who stands to inherit a huge fortune. Smith's companion, Howard K. Stern, said after the hearing that he wouldn't challenge Birkhead for custody. He embraced Birkhead, and said he wanted to help ease the baby's transition into Birkhead's care.
But a lawyer for Smith's mother, Virgie Arthur, indicated that
she might seek joint custody at another hearing on Friday. Arthur
had been estranged from her daughter for years, but now says she
wants to be present in her granddaughter's life. She told reporters that she's happy that the girl will ``know
who her real father is.''
As for Stern, he says he still loves the girl, even after finding out he's not the father.
