MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) - Powderhorn Ski Resort is looking to get staffed for the season but unfortunately for job seekers, applicants quadrupled this year.

Every year before Powderhorn opens its' lifts, it fills its' staff positions.

"Ive been looking forward to this place opening up and getting another job here," says Kim Weber, job seekers.

Kim Weber is just one of many hoping to be hired for one of the sixty positions Powderhorn needs to fill.

"Well I've been here since about quarter of nine and they opened at eight, and there was already one hundred people here," says Weber.

"There was a line out the door," says Shane Allerheiligen, manager of snow removal.

"O my goodness, we have so many applicants here," says Reynolds.

Andrea Reynolds, Director of Human Resources at the mountain, says last year fifty to sixty applicants showed up. This year, they have hundreds.

"There's quite a need for jobs. There's a lot of people unemployed at this time and our heart goes out to them," says Reynolds.

"My positions are full, but there are other positions up here," says Allerheiligen.

Applicants toughed it out and waited for hours, hoping to dazzle in a quick interview.

"My ride just left, so I'm hoping to get a ride down the mountain," says Weber.

Reynolds says Powderhorn takes pride in hiring locals and wishes every candidate the best of luck.

"We have awesome candidates to choose from, so it's going to be a great year for us," says Reynolds.

For many job seekers, they will go home empty handed, but for some applicants like Kim Weber, there's light at the end of the tunnel.

"My husband already got a job, yay," says Weber.

If you couldn't make it to the job fair, there are still positions available at Skiers Union Cafe, the new restaurant on the mountain. If you would like to apply for a position contact owner, Seth Kerzner.
