MESA COUNTY, Colo. (KKCO) - A Mesa County man is heading up the U.S. Census Bureau's Western Slope office and he's looking to fill a lot of positions.
The U.S. Census Bureau on the Western Slope includes 20 counties and two Indian reservations, and all those miles will require the help of one-thousand workers to get the job done.
"We are beginning a hiring phase and you can anticipate that completing the census is a big job, and I have 800-1,000 positions to fill. All of which come with veteran preferences," says Bill Hugenberg, who is heading up Western Slope Census Bureau.
There's a variety of jobs available. Some jobs start now, and some will begin in the spring. There are part-time and full-time and some that are in the field and some in the office.
Every candidate must take an entry level test that includes basic reading and math skills.
If you are interested in a census job, contact the office at (970) 361-3711.
