Palisade little league kicked off its season Saturday morning with a parade and opening ceremonies, but this season and ceremony are unique. They're dedicated to two people who devoted their time to the baseball field.
Eleven year old Mariah Hall passed away this January from spinal meningitis. She played Palisade little league for years. The season is also dedicated to former little league coach, Paul Linn. He passed away two days after Christmas from lung cancer.
Tony Shingelton, Palisade Umpire Chief says, "To have the passing of two individuals, one player and one coach, it was just really sad to hear the news of their passings. Yet, at the same time we are going to use this to celebrate their lives that they have on the league and in the league."
