PALISADE, Colo. (KKCO) - A harassment case against a Palisade Police Officer has been dismissed and he's back to work.

Earlier this month, the Mesa County District Attorney's Office filed a motion to dismiss criminal charges against Officer Stephen Tonello.

In a press release to 11 News, Palisade Police Chief Carroll Quarles said an independent investigation by his department showed there was a violation of department rules and regulations and Tonello admitted his mistake and was disciplined.

Tonello was arrested in October by the Mesa County Sheriff's Office. At the time he was accused of misdemeanor harassment by phone for sending text messages to his ex–girlfriend and knocking on her door in the early morning hours.
