GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - Mesa State College is offering two fewer programs for students to minor in, after a quality and productivity study was done on the college.
Mesa State requested the Academic Program Quality, Priorities and Productivity Report, which evaluates academic programs and then makes recommendations to the college.
The report looked all the majors and minors the college offers and then broke them down into five categories ranging from "Programs of Distinction" down to "Programs to be Phased Out."
After the results were reported to the college, they decided to phase out two programs, B.A. Sociology with an Anthropology Concentration and a B.A. Social Science.
The college will continue to offer classes in those areas, but students will no longer be able to declare them as an area of concentration.
A tenureed Anthropology Professor will be laid off, after the phasing out of that minor is completed at the end of next school year.
Most of Mesa State College’s majors and minors preformed well. There even a few programs that performed at an "Excellent Rating." At the top of that list was the B.S.N. Nursing program.
