Helmets in high demand this ski season
With the ski season finally here many are rushing to get their gear ready. At R-5's Annual Ski Swap, helmets were on many's list.

With the ski season finally here many are rushing to get their gear ready. At R-5's Annual Ski Swap, helmets were on many's list.
"People are picking up helmets now just to be a little more safe," says Al Kreinbert, Teacher at R-5.
Duke Taylor of the Gene Taylor Sports family says helmets are always a good thing to have.
"People it's like a must," says Taylor.
Taylor says unfortunately often times folks won't wear a helmet until it's too late or they see someone else get hurt.
"They're always a good thing to have," says Taylor.
According to the National Ski Areas Association, 43 percent of all skiers and snowboarders in the 2007-2008 season wore helmets. That's up from 25 percent from 2002-2003.
"Helmet sales have been huge for about six to ten years. But they continue every year to just keep increasing," says Taylor.
Since 2003 Aspen ski resort has required children twelve and under to wear helmets and Vail strongly recommends that children fourteen and under wear one during ski school.
Either way, required or optional, when it comes down to it a helmet could save your life and Taylor says it's a purchase you won't regret.
"We always sell out of helmets," says Taylor.
