Athletic Director Turns Himself In & Makes First Court Appearance

Grand Junction High School Athletic Director Donald John Walker, a.k.a. John Walker has turned himself in on charges of Internet Luring of a Child and Enticement of a Child, both class four felonies.

According to the Grand Junction Police Department, Walker turned himself in to the Mesa County Jail Thursday morning shortly after 2:00 a.m.

An arrest warrant was issued for the athletic director after 11 News sparked a criminal investigation. 11 News received a package from an anonymous source stating they had been posing as a 14-year-girl and having sexually explicitly chats with someone they believed was John Walker. 11 News turned the package over to police and police say the evidence was enough to help them get the ball rolling and aid in issuing an arrest warrant.

Walker made his first court appearance Thursday afternoon. His bond was set at $25,000, he was ordered to wear a GPS tracking device and not to have any contact with anyone under the age 18. An hour after his court appearance Walker posted bond. He is expected back in court on Wednesday for a formal filing of charges.
