Committee Votes to Close Loophole for DNA Testing for Felons

DENVER (AP) The House Appropriations Committee has approved a measure that lawmakers say will close a loophole -- which has allowed at least 4,100 jail inmates to avoid a new law requiring felons to give D-N-A samples.

Grand Junction Republican Representative Steve King says new inmates are tested and recorded, but felons already in jail when the bill was passed weren't required to give D-N-A samples until they were released from jail.
