Recovering Marine Returns Home

A Grand Valley Marine returns home to a hero's welcome after being shot by a sniper back in November.

Lance Corporal Daniel Renshaw has spent the past few months recovering in Hawaii, where he is stationed, after being shot in the abdomen. In November Renshaw was on a routine patrol in the Al Anabar Province when a shot rang out and the young winner of the bronze star went to the ground.

After months of therapy and surgery, Renshaw says he is feeling much better.

Renshaw's mother, Theresa Manthei says, " I haven't seen him since he was healthy, it will be so cool to touch him healthier."

Renshaw says, "I lost thirty pounds but I have gained back about twenty back."

Now Renshaw will be here in Grand Junction for about a month. He has one more year of duty and then he plans to go to Mesa State College on his Purple Heart scholarship.
