The first-degree murder trial of a Grand Junction man got underway Monday with jury selection and a gag order.
Christopher Wieberg was charged for the shooting death of Thomas Joe Martinez which happened inside his Fruitvale home back in October 2005.
Wieberg allegedly shot Martinez at close range with a small caliber handgun, after a confrontation that reportedly surrounded a drug debt.
A week long manhunt in the Grand Valley eventually led to Wieberg's arrest and he's facing a number of charges, the most severe is first-degree murder.
The judge issued a gag order on all attorneys involved in the case and this is due to the local ABC affiliate who, in the words of Wieberg's defense attorney, were hounding potential jurors and for also conducting an interview within earshot of those on the jury panel.
