Spring Storm Brings Tornadoes, Snow, Hail, Floods to Colorado

Denver (AP) A storm system that brought tornadoes, heavy snow, rain and hail to the state is moving out of Colorado.

The storm stranded six school buses in El Paso county Tuesday with at least 60 children aboard. Those children were rescued and taken to shelters.

Governor Ritter activated the National Guard to help. Lieutenant Clif Northam of the El Paso County Sheriff's Department says crews on sno-cats also rescued some 50 motorists.

Unofficial snow totals have parts of the foothills, including Evergreen, getting over two feet of snow.

One tornado touched down near the small town of Wild Horse about 110 miles southeast of Denver. Cheyenne county sheriff's officials say several buildings were damaged.

A second twister was reported near the Colorado-Kansas border.
