DENVER (AP) Federal, state and Denver-area authorities say they have arrested 49 people accused of distributing drugs and firearms.
The arrests followed an 18-month investigation into several gangs in the Denver area.
More than 450 local and state police officers -- as well as some officers from Texas and New Mexico -- took part in today's arrest.
Authorities say they seized $1.4 million in cash as well as 42 guns.
A grand jury indicted a total of 50 people. The only one who wasn't arrested is believed to be out of the country.
Authorities say no one was injured in the round-up.
Aurora Police Chief Daniel Oates says the suspects are -- quote -- ``the worst of the worst.''
Officials say those arrested range from kingpins to lower-level dealers.
