Walker Walks With Money

Grand Junction High School's Former Athletic Director strikes a deal with the school district and walks away with a nice chunk of change.

John Walker resigned Thursday, just one day after formally being charged with three felonies in connection with his alleged sexual solicitation of a decoy posing as a 14–year–old girl.

For nearly two decades Walker was a fixture at Grand Junction High School. To many he was a coach, a mentor, administrator and friend. But his days at the school are no more. Walker is accused of having sexually explicit chats online with a man posing as a 14–year–old girl. He's facing charges of Internet luring of a child, enticement of a child and attempted sexual assault on a child.

Officials with the school district struck a deal with Walker. According to the district's spokesperson he'll receive $23,623 in salary, and $2,850 in earned, unused sick leave. After tax deductions and other withholdings Walker will receive just a little more than $16,000

Walker will be back in court in late June. The school district was paying him an annual salary of about $70,000.
