He's been deployed three times for tours over Afghanistan and Iraq and flew 15 combat missions over Kosovo. But on Monday a local Lt. Colonel took his final flight.
Lt. Colonel David Been, a graduate of Central High School, made his last flight in this B–1 Bomber.
With friends and family cheering from the tarmac at Walker Field Airport Been performed touch and go maneuvers.
This is Been's last flight because he was recently promoted to Colonel in the USAF.
Been's parents say they are extremely proud of all their son has done and all that he'll accomplish in his new role.
Been will resume his new rank in the fall and be transferred from South Dakota to Maxwell, AL.
