Former Deputy Honored

A former Mesa County Deputy is honored one hundred and one years after his death.

Deputy Edward Innes was memorialized Sunday on the National Law Enforcement Officers' Memorial in Washington D.C. Deputy Innes is the only Mesa County Sheriff's Office Deputy to have ever died in the line of duty.

The ceremony marks the beginning of National Police Week. Deputy Innes will also be honored here in Mesa County Monday morning as the Mesa County Commissioners "adopt a proclamation" commemorating National Police Week and Wednesday National Peace Officers' Memorial Day.
