Colorado springs, Colo. (AP) A teen accused of planning a deadly attack at a Colorado Springs high school has been charged with conspiracy to commit first-degree murder.

Prosecutors in Colorado springs say the 17-year-old boy was being charged as a juvenile.

He was accused of plotting with a 16-year-old girl to shoot as many students as possible during a school-wide pep rally. The May 4th rally at Harrison High School was canceled.

Police say the two eleventh-graders had blueprints of the school, and the boy had instructions for making pipe bombs. The boy told police he was just curious about how to make them, and the blueprints were so he could find exits during fire drills.

Both teens were charged with interference with an educational institution.
