A fire near the upper crest of Sky Mesa Ranch is now fully contained according to officials with the Bureau of Land Management.
The Mesa County Sheriff's Office assisted the Bureau of Land Management with a fire located approximately 4.6 miles south of John Brown Canyon near the upper crest of Sky Mesa Ranch. The fire was thought to have started after a lightning strike on Sunday.
The fire reportedly consumed nearly 10 acres of ponderosa pine and manzinetta underbrush. At the fire's peak there were 37 firefighters on scene and eight smoke jumpers from Boise Idaho helping to put out the fire.
