Two local high school's are recognized for giving the gift of life.
St. Mary's Regional Blood Center awarded certificates to Fruita Monument and Palisade High Schools for sponsoring blood drives this school year.
Fruita had the largest single blood drive and Palisade turned out the largest number of student donors.
These blood drives are a vital resource to the regional blood center.
Eligibility to donate is once every eight weeks.
Potential donors are urged to visit the blood center anytime this summer. Hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30-5:30 and Saturday from 8-12.
