Father Faces 60 Count Indictment in Disappearance of Girl, Age Six

Video will be available shortly.

Centennial, Colo. (AP) After more than a year and a half, the father of a girl reported missing in 2005 has been arrested in her disappearance.

Aaron Thompson was booked into jail Wednesday. Thursday morning he appeared in court wearing an orange jumpsuit and handcuffs where he was advised that he faces a 60-count indictment, accusing him of crimes that include child abuse resulting in death.

He's accused in connection with the presumed death of six-year-old Aarone. She's not been seen or heard from since she was reported missing, and authorities have said from early on that they believe she's already dead.

Authorities have been tightlipped since Aaron Thompson's story that Aarone ran away during a dispute over a cookie fell apart, when among other things, the family was unable to produce recent pictures of the girl.

Police had called Thompson and his live-in girlfriend, Shelly Lowe, “persons of interest'' in the case. Both denied any involvement.

Lowe died of an apparent heart attack last year.

Thompson is being held on a $500,000 bond.
