A Grand Junction man pleads guilty Friday morning to shaking a baby boy hard enough to cause permanent brain damage.
Although the incident happened back in 2003, 31-year-old Robert Alires was arrested in January. This after witnesses changed their stories and implicated Alires.
The abuse left the boy not only in a coma, but with bruises all over his body, and bleeding in the brain which required doctors to operate on the infant to relieve swelling.
With a plea agreement in place, Alires could spend up to 12 years in prison. He will be sentenced June 12th.
