The law requires sex offenders convicted of crimes against a minor to register their Email addresses, instant messenger screen names, and chat room names with local law enforcement agencies.
The previous law only required sex offenders to register their residential address, as well as their employer's name and address.
According to studies, one in five children between the ages of seven and 17 is solicited online or has been approached through the Internet.
