Several remodels made fighting a structure fire difficult for crews Saturday. At around 6 a.m. Grand Junction fire crews responded to a blaze at the Thunder Mountain Tavern on Highway 50 on Orchard Mesa.
Fighting the fire was difficult because the building had undergone several renovations. As a result, one roof was built over another that was then built on top of another roof. The fire was between roofs, so crews had to break through the many layers to extinguish the fire.
The fire resulted in about $75,000 worth of damage. No one was injured in the blaze.
