GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A Grand Junction man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for causing a crash that killed a baby in November of 2007.

It was an emotional sentencing hearing for Logan Lage Friday morning as a two year long drama came to an end.

Lage led police on a car chase and smashed into the car being driven by Shea Lehnen who was eight months pregnant at the time.

Her daughter Leleigh died after an emergency C–section following the accident.

In court, Shea Lehnen says she forgives Lage and has faith in the justice system.

“We'll never forget my daughter Leleigh. She is in our life every day. We remember her at every holiday, but this part of our life is closed now, which I'm thankful for,” she says.

Lage also addressed the Lehnen family, apologizing to them for his actions and thanking Shea for her forgiveness.

The case had been held up in court for the past two years while the Colorado Court of Appeals decided how Lage should be charged in the baby’s death. They ruled that Lage could be charged for child abuse resulting in death but not homicide, he pleaded guilty to the charge in October.
