School may have just let out but District 51 is busy setting its budget for the 2007–2008 school year.
On Tuesday the board opened up the floor to public comment on the proposed general fund budget which tops the $140M mark.
The numbers are $7M above last year's budget and are based on a four percent base funding increase, as well as an estimated 450 new students in Mesa County schools.
This past year, more than 70 percent of the funds went directly to instruction, which officials say will continue.
The board will vote to adopt the budget on June 19th, with the option of re-adoption in October.
