Helmick jury: Guilty on 13 of 14 counts of charges

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - The jury in the murder case against Miriam Helmick has officially announced its verdict.

The jury found Miriam guilty on 13 of 14 charges, including first degree murder, attempted murder and some forgery charges.

She is scheduled for sentencing Wednesday, Dec. 9 at 3:30 p.m.

Helmick was on trial for the June 10, 2008 murder of her husband Alan Helmick. The lengthy trial garnered national media attention and Dateline has been covering the case since it began Nov. 12.

The jury has been discharged.
