Sunday mornings are usually reserved for church, but instead of staying indoors one congregation decided to worship out in the community.
Everyone gathered outside of the River of Life Alliance Church to get their assignments before heading out on their clean-up missions.
Pastor Brian Cook says it is just a new idea, an experiment, "We just thought for worship this morning instead of getting together and singing and reading the word we would go out and do."
The members of the church went to ten different places, one of which was the Grand Junction Pregnancy Center. The congregation painted, cleaned and even did yard work at the center.
A Pregnancy Center volunteer, Janet Holte thinks all the other volunteers will be pleased with the outcome. "I think the volunteers that come in will be glad. I think they'll look at the carpet and go I'm so glad that's cleaned up."
The volunteers ranged in age, and even the youngest of volunteers were excited to be helping out in the community. "I've been cleaning up the doors with this rag and it's great to be out here today helping people."
After a day of giving back to the community, the congregation returned to the River of Life Alliance Church to enjoy a well deserved barbecue.
