The Grand Junction Fire Department and Police Department are working together right now investigating at least 12 fires, and 11 of them are vehicle fires.

These fires are believed to have been set before dawn this morning.

It all began around 4 A.M. when fire and police crews were dispatched to Elm Avenue.

Shortly afterward more crews were dispatched to other fires in the surrounding areas.

At 5 A.M., just blocks away on Belford Avenue two cars were completely engulfed by flames while crews fought to put them out.

Soon another car behind a home was set on fire, these flames caused a nearby house to catch on fire..

At six A.M. another crew is dispatched to North Sixth Street where the cab of a truck was destroyed by flames.

Several other car fires around the corner on Kennedy, but these didn't require the fire departments response. Right now several residents are feeling victimized.

Police say the majority of the vehicles targeted were unlocked.

Right now authorities have no leads, but a critical incident team has been assembled to process the evidence and conduct interviews.

Anyone with information or who saw anything suspicious is asked to call Mesa County Non–Emergency Dispatch at 242–6707 or Crimestoppers at 241–7867.
