Fire Swallows Grand Junction Home

Frightening moments for a Grand Junction neighborhood as a mobile home goes up in flames.

The fire broke out shortly before 2:30 Monday afternoon at a trailer park off of Independence Avenue in Grand Junction. Officials say weeds in front of trailer number 20 sparked the flames then moved to the interior of the home. Fire crews were able to put the fire out in about 15 minutes but the home is considered a total loss.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation. The damage to the trailer and a fairly new truck parked out front is estimated to be about $60,000.

Traffic on 25 1/2 Road was closed for more than two hours.
