Fireworks Don't Mix With Heat and Wind

With the Fourth of July just around the corner, firework stands are popping up all around the Grand Valley.

On June 23rd, Grand Junction Fire officials placed a ban on all open flames including fireworks. You can buy fireworks, but you can't use them until the ban is lifted. Fire officials say it's not likely that it will be lifted by Fourth of July or anytime in the near future. If people are caught using them they will face fines and possible jail time.

Mike Page, Grand Junction Fire Department says "The real penalty is if you start a fire and it causes injury or damage you are responsible and that's the bottom line. You're responsible for anything that you cause to happen."

Officials say with a mix of high temperatures and low humidity this is a very dangerous time. Add an open flame and your asking for danger.
