Montrose officials investigating arson at high school

MONTROSE, Colo. (KKCO) - The Montrose Police Department is investigating a case of arson at Montrose High School.

Police say two fires were set within the school and though no one was hurt, say it’s a serious crime.

The incidents happened Monday, one fire started in the morning and one just after noon in two separate boys bathrooms.

Each time the fires were put out quickly, but not before damaging parts of the restrooms.

The school was never evacuated but police and fire officials were called in to investigate after the second fire was set.

The suspect could be facing second degree arson a class four felony. That charge carries a maximum sentence of six years or a $500,000 fine.
