BRECKENRIDGE, Colo. (KKCO) - Imagine being able to videotape your most adventurous moments, without using your hands.
It's called an eMotion Cam and it's an HD camera that attaches to your helmet or goggles, so you can capture your entire day of fun without having to stop and pull out a camera.
Chris Sagendorf says he loves being able to re-live his mountain memories.
"I always like to make home movies," says Chris Sagendorf, skier at Breckenridge Resort.
But he says it's not easy to ski with a hand-held video camera. That's why he was excited to find out there's an HD camera that can snap onto your helmet or goggles.
"One of those would be the best thing ever," says Sagendorf.
The eMotion Cam is now available to rent at fifteen ski resorts across the United States and seven in Colorado.
"It's awesome because you can get a point of view shot of skiing through the trees or hitting jumps," says Cody Jensen, snowboarder at Breckenridge Resort.
Lone Star Sports in Breckenridge, has been renting the eMotion Cam for a year now. At the sports shop, there's a user-friendly kiosk. With the swipe of a credit car and a charge of forty dollars to rent for the day, that's all it takes to be ready to hit the slopes with a hands-free video camera.
And vacationers are loving it.
"If I were with a really, really big group of people or my children, to get their first skiing, that would be great," says Jenny Petz, skier at Breckenridge Resort.
And locals are catching on too.
"It would be good for follow cams. Definitely good on jumps. Could revolutionize the world of filming," says Tom Semotuk, snowboarder at Breckenridge Resort.
Then after recording your day on the mountain, you take the camera back to the kiosk and in return you can get a DVD, USB or memory card with all your video clips.
"It's just fun watching the footage. Showing friends how you ski and the lines you take," says Jensen.
And it includes an editing program to use at home so you don't have to re-play that embarrassing wipe out you took.
"It think it would be hilarious because I'm not very good. It would be funny to watch," says Elizabeth Huber, skier at Breckenridge Resort.
For home movie maker Sagendorf, the eMotion Cam is just what he was looking for to make his mountain retreat a memory hat will last forever.
"I think it's the best thing ever," says Sagendorf.
The camera goes into sleep mode every ten to fifteen minutes, so make sure to check that your camera is recording.
