The Fourth of July was a busy night for local law enforcement. Not only did Sheriff Deputies and Police Officers have their usual calls to deal with, but they were also flooded with firework complaint calls.
The two departments received a total reaching near 600 firework related calls, but each only gave out one citation.
Heather Gierhart with the Mesa County Sheriff's Office says, "They were flooded, you can't keep up with it. You have to prioritize the calls. Fires are of course a much bigger verse a small child with a sparkler."
Colorado State Patrol, on the other hand, had a little slower night they only made two D.U.I arrests.
