GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO, Associated Press) - 11 News is asking for your thoughts and prayers as a member of our news team struggles with the loss of a family member. Before the Boulder County Coroner's Office confirmed who was in a plane that went down in Boulder county, Natalie Pallone learned one of the victims was her uncle.

Bob Matthews, was the pilot of the Cirrus that collided with a Piper Pawnee Saturday afternoon. Bob's brother, Mark, was a passenger in the plane and was also killed.

The Matthew's family tells 11 News: "Mark and Bob were men who were dearly loved. Wherever they went, they impacted their community with their integrity, kindness, humor and love. They will be sorely missed by their adoring wives, children and family and friends."

Investigators were back out at the crash site Sunday, the NTSB has interviewed passengers on a glider being towed by the Piper Pawnee. They reported the pilot seeing the Cirrus out of the corner of his eye. He reportedly knew the plane was on a collision course. The glider was released from the tow plane just before the collision, and all three passengers landed safely.

The investigation could last six to nine months. The NTSB anticipates the wreckage recovery will be finalized Monday afternoon. A preliminary report is expected Wednesday.
