After more than two years of planning, the go–head has been given to widen Monument Road.
Four foot bike lanes are being added to each side of Monument Road.
Two contracts were approved this morning during the County Commissioner's hearing. One is agreement of construction services on the road, and the other is approval to proceed with the work.
Expansion of the 3.5 mile stretch of road will cost just under 1.8 million dollars.
Other improvements on the agenda are roadway realignment, drainage improvements, and a deceleration and turning lane into Tabeguache Trail-head.
Construction will begin in ten days and should be completed by November.
