Two structures were lost and several others threatened in a fire on Cedar Mesa. The fire started Monday afternoon and burned an estimated twenty acres. A total of eight homes were threatened and evacuated, but crews were able to spare all but two. 11 News spoke with one girl whose home was saved from the fire, though her neighbor's burned to the ground.
Evacuee Cory Ward says, "We were scared, everyone was running around putting out the flames. All of the neighbors were out helping each other. There was a lot of praying going on."
Crews will continue their mop up on Cedar Mesa until the fire is 100 percent out. About a mile away from this fire another blaze broke out also threatening homes. No homes were lost in this fire and an estimated four acres burned. Both of these fires are believed to have been caused by lightening.
