FRUITA, Colo. (KKCO) - Getting WIC vouchers through the Health Department will soon be more convenient for Fruita residents.
Starting March 17, the Fruita branch will accept Wednesday and Thursday appointments and hope to add another 100 families to their growing list of almost 4,000 they already help provide for in Mesa County.
Officials say sometimes it's hard for moms to get to the main Health Department location in Grand Junction and with WIC services offered in Fruita it will be easier for families to get their grocery vouchers.
Pat Stiles, a WIC supervisor, says with these vouchers "you can buy milk, eggs, cheese, some fresh fruits and vegetables, some whole grains, like rice or tortillas, and currently we also give baby food."
The Fruita Health Department branch is located at 215 N. Plum Street.
To schedule an appointment call 248– 6914.
