Firefighters called in to rescue boy caught in 'quicksand'

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A nine-year-old boy has to be rescued by firefighters after getting stuck in the mud Monday afternoon.

It happened on North Sparn Ct. in Grand Junction when the boy’s bother says a mail carrier spotted the boy stuck in the yard, more than waist-deep and called for help
“This lady, the mail girl, she went to go drop off my mom's mail and she saw me get stuck in the mud and I couldn’t get out,” he says.

Firefighters say the mud was like quicksand that the more the boy struggled the deeper he sank.

They were able to pull him out and hose him off. He wasn’t hurt, just a little cold from all the mud and water.

Correct me if I am wrong but it was the Sheriff's Department that was first on the scene and also covered in mud pulling this poor boy out. This could be why the public does not like the police, you have all kinds of reporting when an officer is involved in something negative but when they do something good like rescue a boy from the mud you fail to even mention them. I am not taking away from the firefighters, they obviously were part of the rescue and I appreciate all they do, but give credit where it is due and try reporting on the police in a positive light for a change.
