GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) - A lesson learned the hard way... the 26 kids busted at a teen bash last month went before a municipal judge Wednesday morning.
One of the harshest sentences fell upon the ‘host’ of the party, the son of District Attorney Pete Hautzinger who pleaded guilty to charges of disorderly house and minor in possession.
His sentence will carry a fine totaling $500 and 14 hours of useful public service plus court fees.
Most of the teens pleaded guilty and face first offender charges after the February party got out of control and police had to be called.
First offender sentences carry a $150 fine, 24 hours of useful community service and court fees.
The teens who appeared on their first offense are required to take alcohol education classes as well. Those who were appearing on their second offense will be required to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation. A letter will also be sent to the Division of Motor Vehicles letting officials know they've had a second offense. The DMV is responsible for deciding whether or not their license will be suspended.
The DA appeared with his son in court but was unavailable for comment.
