Police in Glenwood Springs have confirmed they arrested two men over the weekend wanted for questioning in the shooting of a police officer.
Around 6 p.m. Sunday, a car driven by Sergio Estebon "Smokey" Ramirez, was spotted at the Glenwood Springs exit on Interstate 70, where he was taken into custody without incident.
An all-points-bulletin had been issued in Mesa County shortly before the arrest was made as authorities believed he may have been heading in that direction.
Ramirez is in the Garfield County jail on a $1M bond.
19–Year–old Anthony "Speedy" Villegas, who was also wanted nationwide on a drug–related warrant, was apprehended on Saturday.
Last Sunday night a Glenwood Springs officer was shot in the chest while patrolling a storage area near the airport but he survived thanks to a bulletproof vest.
